The Hudson River has cruises, boating, paddling and kayaking. A trip to the Hudson-Athens Lighthouse is especially instagramable in the summer months. The lighting and weather are great to paddle over.
Hudson Valley is also a great vacation destination with kids. Legoland Discovery Center, ziplining, the zoos and nature centers and the Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum have activities and pop-up experiences to entertain the kids. Kids can attend a very Hudson Valley summer camp with lots of riverfront activities.
History buffs can visit the Vanderbilt Mansion, Home of Franklin D Roosevelt National Historic Site, Locust Grove Estates and Lyndhurst Mansion. For hog and chopper history fans, the Motorcycle Museums exhibits over 500 motorcycles.
Rhinebeck antiquing tours have a different kind of historic insight into the region.
The Walkway Over The Hudson is the longest pedestrian bridge offering great views of the river and Shawangunk Mountains. The Hudson Highlands State Park has medium to challenging hikes for more river views.
The Hudson New York region also has many great summer events like the Dutchess County State Fair. Others like the Rhinebeck Craft Festival, Hudson Valley Hot Air Balloon Festival, the Annual Hudson Valley Wine and Food Fest happen all through the summer.
