The Bronx Zoo holiday lights will officially be switched on to mark the winter season.
The seasonal celebration will be on select dates November 19 2021 through January 9 2022.
The event will be held outdoors and the themes this year will include more than 260 lanterns representing almost 70 animal and plant species connecting you to the real wildlife and wild places that Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) staff works to protect through field programs around the world, and in zoos and the aquarium in New York. 79 new lanterns representing 30 new animal species will make their debut at this year’s Holiday Lights.
Entertainment this year includes:
Costume Characters in Somba Village
Ice Carving Demonstrations and Competitions in Grizzly Corner
Stilt Walkers (all animal-themed, of course!) in Astor Court
Holiday Train (additional fee of $3) in Astor Court
Wildlife Theater in Dancing Crane Pavilion
For adults, there will be a special night on Dec 1, from 6 to 10 p.m., which will have unlimited food sampling and select seasonal adult beverages. Diverse activities, music and lantern safaris will be included as well.
But this holiday will not be complete without hot cocoa, marshmallows, s’mores, ice cream and coffee.
All tickets must be purchased in advance at bronxzoo.com.
