Darien Lake Amusement Park is unveiling a new ride – a roller coaster called “Tantrum.”
This thrill ride – scheduled to open in May 2018 - will take riders up a 98-foot vertical lift at a 90-degree angle, before dropping into a 97-degree descent and a pretzel inversion. From there, riders will experience twists and turns as the coaster snakes through itself, over a bunny hop, and into a tilted loop – at times reaching speeds of up to 52 mph – sure to keep stomachs turning and riders wondering which way is up. The ride is something of a first of its kind in New York State.
The ride will join the other well-known coasters at the theme park, including the Ride of Steel, Viper, Mind Eraser, and Boomerang. It will be the park’s seventh coaster.

Darien Lake Amusement Park is a full theme park with amusement games and rides, a waterpark, campground, Lodge on the Lake hotel, full-service restaurants, and a Performing Arts Center amphitheater.
People of all ages can visit the destination for a day or a whole weekend, whether to experience Tantrum for the first time, or revisit old favorites.
Darien Lake offers a number of new deals and specials including a season pass. Their website lists a number of lodging deals – offering overnights at the hotel or camping and RV stays along with park admission.
Darien Park also offers “glamping” (or glamourous camping) bed & breakfast packages, where one combines the luxury of a hotel with the freedom of a campground by staying in a platform-canvas tent with a queen bed. The package includes a breakfast buffet each morning and the day that follows at the park is inevitably a full day of coasters and cotton candy. Alternatively, a day of relaxing by the pool – whatever your speed.
Ticket buyers to any of the concerts at Darien Lake in 2018 get complimentary admission to the park on the day of the show. The concerts will feature famous acts including Post Malone, Zac Brown Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kesha & Macklemore, and REO Speedwagon.
