Sometimes it is cold in the Great Western Catskills in the month of April. Other times it is not. So, when you pack, prepare for warm, happy sunshine one day and snow the next.
But the weather is not the only unexpected delight that Delaware County has in store for visitors.
The spectacular mountain views and rolling terrain make the area a top destination for golfers. Here you’ll find many premier golf facilities with pristine courses, perfect for novices and experts alike. A weekend of golf in Delaware County is an annual tradition for many. There are many beautiful golf courses to choose from while enjoying the views and the clubhouse facilities like College Golf Course at Delhi or Sidney Golf & Country Club.
Some of the courses open this month with other courses opening soon.
In April, fishing enthusiasts return to cast their lines in the incredibly beautiful, clean rivers, streams, ponds and reservoirs. Home to a variety of fish species, the Great Western Catskills region features some of the most incredible fishing in the Eastern United States and some say the world. With hundreds of miles of world-class fishing streams, ponds, lakes, rivers and the reservoirs, it is most likely the perfect place to fish for everyone. There are fishing shops like Al’s Sports Store and resorts like West Branch Anglers Resort to stay.

Here are also spotlighted, a couple of the Easter events taking place throughout the county. More will obviously be added closer to Easter. There is the Easter Bunny Breakfast in Walton Grange and the Roxbury Community Easter Egg Hunt.
There’s golf, there’s fishing and there’s a fun Easter; but in the Great Western Catskills in Spring, there are also many places to stay, eat, shop, hike and you know, relax.
