Wine Waters Wonders – 5 Nights and 6 Days

Day 1 This morning, depart NY City on your luxury motor coach for a Wonderful New York state experience. While driving up the Hudson Valley and then skirting below the Catskill Mountains. You will leave the hustle and bustle of Manhattan for the green, rolling, pastoral countryside that is the trademark of Upstate New York. A delicious lunch will be served after your 4-hour journey at the internationally famous Corning Museum of Glass(CMoG). CMoG is the world's largest glass museum; featuring 35 centuries of glass artistry, live glassblowing demonstrations, and international glass market. Besides a tour, you will sandblast a wine glass and use it the next day during your wine tasting! Afterwards we are ½ hour away from our visit of Watkins Glen – a beautiful small city located at the bottom of Lake Seneca, one of the famous Finger Lakes. Watkins Glen is known for the lake, but also for its surrounding wineries and the famous Watkins Glen International Raceway. Just a short distance away is the Bristol Harbor Hotel. The view from dinner here will imprint the magical vistas of the lake below and the surrounding mountains, creating a memorable picture never to forget. This will be our beautiful home as we taste and explore the wonders of the Finger Lakes wine region. Dinner over looking this vista while sampling the local wine delights. Day 2 This morning we will visit Bellhurst Castle for a tour including Lunch. Ask about the famous wine Spigot. The castle is said to be haunted. The setting is quite beautiful and the history quite interesting. Now we will slow your pulse down, with some touring of the Finger Lakes region and wine country. Our next stop is one of the many wineries along the Canandaigua Wine trail or the Cayuga Wine trail (depending on the season). A culinary focus will allow you to see the combining of food, wine and spirit that will enhance the total experience and your appreciation of how to include this in your life at home. This afternoon, we will tour two more wineries showing off a diversity of wines and winemaking. Don’t forget to bring the wine glass that you created! A swim in the lake or a round of golf before dinner delights! Day 3 Before departure from this land of beauty, wine and water, we will take an early cruise on the Skaneateles Lake to see the beauty of the homes and lifestyle of the locals. Enroute to Rochester, the imaging Capital of the world, we will have the treat to experience 'Destiny USA', a mega shopping, dining & play complex like none other. Enjoy the wonders before check in at the Woodcliff Hotel & Spa, a special home away from the home nestled in the hills of Rochester. Dinner will be at Dinosaur Barbeque, located in an old train station. You’ll not only enjoy the food and atmosphere, there is a good chance for live blues music! Rochester boasts an amazing amount of festivals and cultural experiences! Day 4 After another delicious breakfast you will discover Rochester NY - Xerox was founded here as well as Eastman Kodak –and the imaging tradition continues in its schools and universities. While touring, you will stop at the George Eastman House and International Museum of Photography and Film. George Eastman House is an independent nonprofit museum - an educational institution that tells the story of photography and motion pictures - media that has changed and continues to change our perception of the world. You will tour both the mansion and the gallery. Their hands on approach is very welcoming. A lunch reception in the home and garden is a special treat. Listen to the scrolls of organ music! Continuing on after lunch we visit one of the locks of the Erie Canal, a man-made canal traversing New York State from Lake Erie to the Hudson River. The history of this canal is vital to understanding New York’s history as the Empire State. It’s also fun to watch the locks in action as you cruise the Eric canal. Americans everywhere owe a debt to the Seneca people (Native American tribe); as one of the six nations comprising the Iroquois Confederacy, their democratic ideals served as an inspiration for the U.S. Constitution. Today you will tour Ganondagan Native American Historic Site where thousands of Seneca lived 300 years ago. Tour a full-size replica of a 17th-century Seneca Bark Longhouse, walk miles of self-guided trails, climb the mesa where a huge palisaded granary stored hundreds of thousands of bushels of corn, and learn about the destruction of Ganondagan, Town of Peace, in 1687. The American sufferage era is also a theme of this area. After the tours you are on your way to The Falls - Niagara Falls – up close and powerful. The natural wonder will highlight the next two days. The Sheraton of the Falls or Barton Hill hotel, are located downtown Niagara Falls NY. After check-in, a brief visit to the falls and then an exciting evening. Dinner is at Koi, one of the top restaurants (Asian) in the Niagara region and located at the Seneca Niagara Casino (owned by the Seneca Indians), across the street from the Sheraton. Of course, there is time afterwards to try your luck at the tables and slot machines! Day 5 After a delicious breakfast you have a day surrounded by the falls – literally. First is the Maid of the Mist boat ride up to the falls. Close enough to get wet and feel the force. Next is Cave of the Winds – and actually walk amidst the falls. After a lively lunch at Hard Rock Café, it’s off for some excitement. A jet boat ride on the Niagara River! The Jet Boat speeds upriver, making their way into the breathtaking stonewalled canyon that is the Niagara Gorge. The anticipation builds as the boats splash into the whitewater of Devil's Hole Rapids. The group can choose between a completely glass enclosed jet boat or the wet excitement of an open one! Dinner tonight is a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach. Dinner at Top of the Falls has magnificent views – and great food. Every evening of the year the public is treated to a spectacular evening light show on the falls. A perfect final night! An alternate culinary delight of food, wine and spirit is possible at the Niagara culinary center or at the local winery or visit Toppers – an old world night club - for a fabulous night of dinner and dancing.
