Humanities New York presents, “Anti-Social Media: Digital Space and the Destabilization of Democracy”
This Festival will foster a series of community conversations on “revolutions” with a special emphasis on past, present and future movements effecting social, political and cultural change. In what ways do celebrated technologies such as Facebook and Google reinforce stereotypes and weaken our democracy? What role do such media platforms play in exacerbating the pervasive social distrust in the country? This conversation, the launch event for the Festival, will explore these and other questions, with 2 featured speakers.
