Here are some tips: The Tupper Lake Municipal Park offers free parking and is one of the best spots to watch the action. If you are looking for something to do while your friends and family are out on the course, the park is a short walk from the Park Street business district where you can find a variety of shopping and dining options (including some new ones). Food vendors and P-2's Beer Tent will be available on site. Turn your trip into a mini Adirondack getaway! Plan on staying for a few days - explore the area and make sure to take advantage of discounted admission passes athletes receive for The Wild Center. Swim Leg Volunteer Notice: The Tupper Lake Tinman swim race uses small boats, mainly kayaks and some canoes, to lead swimming waves in the water and to help guide swimmers on the race course. Boats are positioned throughout the course with the primary responsibility of marking the course while monitoring the safety and performance of the individual swimmers in the water. Competitors are allowed to rest in place on the small boats as needed and boaters may signal for swimmers who cannot finish to be removed from the water by larger rescue boats. Small boater qualifications include having good swimming and boat handling skills. Boaters should be comfortable moving close enough to the swimmers to be helpful and skillful enough to adapt to wavy conditions.
