"Early Baseball and Rochesters's Baseball Pioneers"

“Early Baseball and Rochester’s Baseball Pioneers” will be the topic on Tuesday, February 20, 7:00 pm, at the Fairport Museum (18 Perrin St.). Speakers Joe Territo and Tony Brancato, members of The Rochester Baseball Historical Society, will take attendees through the evolution of “our national pastime” during the 19th century and into the first part of the 20th century highlighting the local men who played. This was a period of rapid change for baseball as it moved from being a children’s game to a popular adult club sport. An interesting Rochester location linked to the dawn of baseball will also be revealed.

Joe Territo, a Town of Greece resident, is the president of the Rochester Baseball Historical Society and also the team photographer for the Rochester Red Wings. Tony Brancato, a Fairport resident, is a founding member of the RBHS and serves on their board of directors. He currently plays for the Rochester Live Oaks vintage baseball club, a part of the Genesee Country Village’s vintage baseball program.

The Rochester Baseball Historical Society is certified by the New York State Board of Regents as an educational organization and is dedicated to the preservation, research, and dissemination of the baseball history of greater Rochester, NY. The Society is a network that facilitate these goals through publications, presentations, and the promotion of our region’s long and rich baseball heritage.
