A MOST FORTUNATE FOLLY: ALASKA AT 150

The Seward House Museum invites you to be a part of history for the 150th anniversary of Mr. Seward’s Alaska purchase. Gather with members of the community as well as leaders from New York and Alaska for the public unveiling of a new statue of Seward. Shadowing Seward’s own movements, the statue will embark on a western transcontinental railroad journey before arriving in Juneau, Alaska, where it will thereafter grace the State House grounds.

After the statue unveiling, there will be an Artist’s Workshop with sculptors David and Judith Rubin. They will take audience members behind the scenes to their foundry – sharing pictures and memories from the sculpting process. A Q&A will follow the presentation.
