Lake George Steamboat Company to Celebrate Bicentennial The Lake George Steamboat Company, incorporated on April 15th, 1817 by the New York State Legislature, will be celebrating its 200th year of service in 2017. Nestled in the Southeastern portion of the Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York lies Lake George, known as “The Queen of American Lakes”. A tourist destination since the 1800s, Lake George is the home of The Lake George Steamboat Company, continuously operating since 1817. The Lake George Steamboat Company currently operates three vessels: The Sternwheel Steamboat Minne-Ha-Ha, The Motor Vessel Mohican II and The Cruise Ship Lac du Saint Sacrement. Along with scenic sightseeing cruises, the Steamboat Company offers lunch, brunch and dinner cruises, fireworks cruises, for the kids a pirate cruise and a moonlight cruise. 2017 promises to host a full season of special events for the Lake George Steamboat Company as they celebrate their bicentennial milestone. New Year’s weekend will offer three cruises aboard The Lac du Saint Sacrement, an Ice Bar with food trucks on the pier and fireworks. Choose from a New Year’s Eve Dinner Cruise, a New Year’s Eve Party Cruise with Fireworks or a New Year’s Day Brunch Cruise. The weekend of April 15th, which is the anniversary of the charter granted by the State of New York, will offer a Friday Seafood Dinner Cruise, a Saturday Complimentary Cruises to area residents in appreciation of their support and Easter Sunday there will be a Brunch Cruise. Mid-June, the summer season will begin with celebratory cruises aboard all three vessels. There will be special weekend pricing and fireworks, bands on the pier, souvenir giveaways and a blessing of the ships and crew. Throughout the summer there will be special pricing for cruises, souvenir giveaways and signature drinks served aboard the boats. In September, during Balloon Festival weekend, the celebration continues with an entertainment filled, food truck festival on the pier.
