LIC Art Strolls: SculptureCenter and MoMA PS1
Join the Long Island City Cultural Alliance (LICCA) for its first Art Stroll of 2017 on May 20th. This walking tour will introduce attendees to two of Long Island City's leading cultural institutions - Sculpture Center and MoMA PS1 - showcasing commonalities between the current programs at these experimental contemporary art spaces. The tour will also highlight these institutions' longstanding connection to the
neighborhood and their shared history as re-purposed buildings. The event will begin at Sculpture Center with a guided tour of three new solo exhibitions by women artists, Charlotte Prodger: Subtotal
, Sam Anderson: The Park
, and Teresa Burga: Mano Mal Dibujada.
The stroll will continue at MoMA PS1 with a tour of Past Skin
, a new group exhibition of six women artists who consider the body in an increasingly technological world, and an exploration of several site-specific installations on view throughout the building. The event will conclude with a reception in MoMA PS1's iconic courtyard (weather permitting).
The Long Island City Cultural Alliance (LICCA) is an alliance of leading non-profit arts and cultural organizations in and around Long Island City. Art Strolls provide unique opportunities to experience LICCA institutions that are walking distance from each other, inviting participants to learn more about the cultural life of Long Island City through special programming and insider access. Art Strolls are geared towards participants aged 16 and older and take place rain or shine.
