Night Climbs at The Adventure Park – Wheatley Heights Night climbing is in full swing at The Adventure Park at Long Island. As the days grow shorter and the leaves begin to turn, night climbing is in full swing at The Adventure Park at Long Island. Powered by LED lights and designed to capture the spirit of the forest at dusk, the Adventure Park remains open into the moonlight hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, allowing visitors to climb, zip, swing, and play in the trees under starlit autumn skies.

“This is the best time of year to climb,” says John Hines, partner at Outdoor Ventures, which operates the Adventure Park. “We don’t want people to miss the chance to climb just because the sun is going down.”

First designed as a way to help climbers see for the last few hours of the day, and originally mainly by headlamps, today night climbing at The Adventure Park has evolved into a “magical” experience of its own that captures the interest of families, beginners and skilled climbers alike, as the park’s aerial trails stay open into the evening. Gone are the headlamps as the LED lights are designed to replicate dusk in the forest, in a climbing experience often referred to as “Twilighting.”

In addition to the regular, LED-illuminated night hours, visitors can also enjoy various themed nights throughout the fall season, such as “Glow in the Park” with glow sticks, laser light shows and music. Events are designed to appeal to adults and families with children alike, creating a unique evening adventure activity for all.
