Be a "Pfeiffer Fido"!

The dog days of summer are upon us! The original phrase had nothing to do with our beloved pets. And it has nothing to do with us lazing about because it’s too hot to do anything else! For the Greeks and Romans, the “dog days” happened when Sirius, the dog-star, appeared to rise just before the sun. The dates for this celestial occurrence are July 3rd to August 11th.

To celebrate this cosmic event, Pfeiffer Nature Center would like to invite you and your four-legged best friend to the Lillibridge Preserve for a “dog gone great time!” Learn about canine good citizen, obedience, and what it means to be a therapy dog from the Olean Kennel Club. Meet a police dog in training. Take your dog for a stroll along our dog treat trail and participate in the “My Dog Has Talent” contest.

All dogs must be current on vaccinations and remain on leash at all times. This event will be held at Pfeiffer Nature Center, 1974 Lillibridge Road, Portville, NY 14770. Fee: $3 per dog for members, $5 per dog for non-members. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Register by 4pm Thursday, August 3rd. Sign up on the programs calendar on our website at www.pfeiffernaturecenter.org or contact the office at 716-933-0187.

Pfeiffer Nature Center is supported by United Way Funding. Pfeiffer Nature Center where science, art & nature come together.
