Growing trees in pots is called Bonsai. The history of Bonsai stems from farming practices from long, long ago. It is believed that the Art of Bonsai originated in China and was then spread to Japan through commerce where it was embraced by their culture and religions. Under the influence of the Buddhists and Monks during the 10th and 12th centuries, Bonsai really flourished. Bonsai evolved into a living art form when people began to appreciate the shape and style of the trees which they could bring into their own homes.
Joe Schueckler, Bonsai enthusiast, will share the history, the styles, the plant materials and the tools necessary to enjoy this hands on development of your own Bonsai Tree.
