Sour, Sweet, Bitter, Spicy is a virtual banquet with 30 Chinese and Asian-American chefs, including Martin Yan and Ken Hom, that tells the complex story of Chinese food in America. The exhibit's centerpiece is a grand dinner table set with artefacts and place settings personally selected by each chef to represent his or her cooking style and regional culinary traditions. Savoring the complexities and vast cultural landscape encompassed by the familiar words “Chinese food,” this exhibition at the Museum of Chinese in America brings together more than 30 chefs and restaurateurs, including locals Eddie Huang (BaoHaus), Danny Bowien (Mission Chinese Food) and Anita Lo (Annisa), for an immersive conversation delving into the personal and professional, and the intricate interplay between food, ethnic identity and immigrant experience. A monumental dinner table, set with items selected by the chefs, forms the show’s centerpiece. Source: nycgo Image: mocanyc.org
