Special Exhibit: The Starfleet Academy Experience

In honor of the 50th anniversary of Star Trek's television debut, the USS Intrepid plays host to a Special Exhibit: The Starfleet Academy Experience. This immersive “Trek tech” adventure includes a full-scale mockup of The Next Generation bridge and invites visitors to enroll in Starfleet Academy for a day, taking special training in 26th-century medicine, language and engineering. The interactive show will also feature some impressive 21st-century technology, like projection mapping and holograms. Tickets are available for timed visits at intrepidmuseum.org. 50 years since the maiden voyage of the starship Enterprise, the museum is hosting an interactive, immersive Starfleet Academy extravaganza. "Cadets" train in such subjects as navigation, medicine and engineering, engaging them with today’s emerging technologies and the real science underpinning Star Trek’s science fiction. Yes, there will be phasers, transporters and "fully functional" tricorders, along with a display of the shuttlecraft Galileo.
