Spotlight: Alexander Hamilton This special exhibition, presented during the Albany Institute's 225th year, focuses on Alexander Hamilton's Albany connection along with a few significant loans. The centerpiece of the exhibition is the well-known portrait of Hamilton by Albany's leading portrait painter, Ezra Ames, now owned by Union College. This portrait is featured in some of the most famous biographies of Hamilton. The exhibition will also feature the work of John G Waite Associates, Architects, the Albany firm that was responsible for the restoration, furnishing and move of his home, Hamilton Grange. Alexander Hamilton (1757-1804) was a remarkable political figure who was "actively involved in nearly every aspect of the nation's founding", as the son-in-law of Major- General Phillip Schuyler, was intimately connected with the city of Albany.
