Studio 20th Birthday: Local Glass Community Open House

, New York City | Arts & Culture

To help us celebrate the Studio’s 20 years, we invite the local glass community to enjoy a morning of celebration, comradery, and glass. The Studio’s doors will be open to local glassmakers who would like to work in either the hot shops or flame working studios. Founded in 1951 by Corning Glass Works (now Corning Incorporated) as a gift to the nation for the company’s 100th anniversary, The Corning Museum of Glass is a not-for-profit museum dedicated to telling the story of a single material: glass. The concept seems so simple. How much can you say about glass? Actually, quite a lot. Glass is a versatile, ancient material that is still being explored and understood by artists, scientists, and historians today. The story of glass is a story about art, history, culture, technology, science, craft and design. And we tell that story at The Corning Museum of Glass.
