Take a Hike with Pfeiffer Nature Center: “In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks.”- John Muir
We all know the physical benefits of hiking which are to build cardio-respiratory strength, tone muscles, promote weight loss and decrease high levels of blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, cholesterol and triglycerides. But do you know of the many mental benefits? Outdoor exercise allows you to sleep better, brighten your mood, increase your attention span and get your creative juices flowing. So if you are looking to start the New Year off with a brain power boost, we have just the thing for you- hiking at Pfeiffer Nature Center!
Hiking is a wonderful activity that is very easy to start as very little is needed in the way of equipment. Just bring along a pair of comfortable hiking shoes and we will provide the beautiful setting and companionship. Hiking sticks will also be on hand for you to borrow. A Pfeiffer-led hike will take place the first and third Friday of every month starting January 1st, 2016 from 10 am-11 am. Trails on both the Lillibridge Preserve and Eshelman Tract will be explored. Our website calendar will share the date and location of each hike.
The hike will be moderately strenuous- which, in terms of exercise means you will be able to talk but not sing during the activity. The trek is not an interpretive hike so stops will not be made along the trails. Any sharing of information will occur as casual, friendly banter amongst the participants.
The hikes are free to the public and will take place rain or shine. Hikes however will be canceled if we are experiencing extreme weather conditions.
RSVP’s are not required. If you have any questions, please contact the administrative office at 716-933-0187 or by email to [email protected] We are looking forward to seeing you on the trails! Pfeiffer Nature Center- Where Science, Art & Nature Come Together.
