For over 40 years hot air balloonists from across the United States, as well as internationally based pilots, have attended the Adirondack Balloon Festival for the awe-inspiring views of the Southern Adirondacks. The Balloon Festival takes place September 20-23, 2018 at the Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport located at 443 Queensbury Avenue in Queensbury, NY. Opening ceremonies take place in Glens Falls at Crandall Park on Upper Glen Street on Thursday afternoon. The afternoon features live music, children’s activities, food vendors and the flight of up to 20 hot air balloons (wind and weather permitting.) In the evening the City of Glens Falls Block Party takes place on Glen Street downtown. Enjoy the music, balloon baskets are on display, a car show and fun children’s activities. The festival features a wide variety of 80+ hot air balloons including special shapes. Come out and see all the balloon in an array of colors and decorations as they take to the sky at 6am and 6pm throughout the weekend at the airport. A special Moon Glow lights up the night at 8pm on Saturday. The airport venue features live music, kids activities, food vendors and the Zonta Craft Fair. The Big Balloon Breakfast is served on site Saturday and Sunday 5am-10am. Bus parking is by permit only. www.adirondackballoonfest.org
