Vassar College’s Modfest 2019
Celebrating its 17th season, Modfest 2019 is Vassar College’s annual exploration of the arts of the 20th and 21st centuries. This year’s theme “in motion” asks us to explore movement in its many forms: from simply discovering what moves, to reflecting on the meaning of motion, to actively being present in the moment. From chaotic string textures that conjure the natural imagery of the tornado season as told by Joshua Roman and the JACK Quartet, to music and the moving image, to the premiere of Richard Wilson’s String Quartet No. 6, Modfest celebrates the diverse ways in which art reflects and moves through our constantly changing world.
Featuring award-winning guest artists, faculty members, and students, Modfest is an exciting two-week exploration of music, visual art, dance, film, workshops, and lectures.
