If inspiring natural scenery and tranquility are on your “to do” list, then Winter in Ausable Chasm is an experience not to be missed. As you are personally guided along the Inner Sanctum trail bringing you in to the heart of the Chasm, you will have views of gigantic icicles clinging to towering walls of natural sandstone formed over 15,000 years ago. Experience the powerful sights and sounds of the Ausable River below you while imagining how the river carved it’s path through stone and earth. After ascending out of the Chasm, hike or snowshoe* through quiet woods on a groomed trail, which at times is covered in a fresh blanket of snow. A winter tour through Ausable Chasm is a 2 hour winter escape to be enjoyed by all. Reservations are required for the guided Winter Tour.
